**WARNING**

This is going to be gross!! Just one of the many reasons that we canceled our vacation this week . . .
Tiddles got attacked by another dog! Doesn't she look pitiful? She got a portion of her neck/back shaved!!
I actually wasn't at home {I took a chance I had and ran free - okay, I did have a kid with me - but only 1!} Lonnie was pulling the boys in the wagon - as he was walking Tiddles. Well he was almost home and our neighbor's {1 empty lot and 5 doors down} dog took a bite out of her neck!

So, picture this - Lonnie dives on his knees and grabs the other dog's collar while throwing his arm up around the dog's nuzzle. This causes craze dog to release as Lonnie is screaming to Tiddles, "GO HOME - NOW, GO HOME!!" If anyone has a clue about shelties, you know they are extremely intelligent. Now, don't get me wrong - I'm sure any dog being attacked only yards from their home would be high tailing it back to their house ----- BUT would that dog open the door and close it behind them?? Seriously? Keep following me . . . So, Tiddles runs towards the house, then craze dog rips his own collar off and tears after my dog! Thank goodness Tiddles had just enough space between them! She ran in the garage, wedged the door in the house open {it was shut, but had not "clicked" - if that makes sense?} and then freakin' shut the door behind her!! Honestly, I'm guessing she slammed it open and then it slammed shut behind her - but makes for a good story!

The craze dog ran in the garage and couldn't find Miss Smarty Pants anywhere! To cut the long of the story out. The owner was very apologetic - she came to the house several times to check on our dog! She is a very good dog owner - she walks her dog daily and you can tell its loved! She is only guilty of the same thing we are - letting her dog outside {in the front yard} when she is out there - no leash or any restraints.

Crazy thing - Tiddles had one large puncture wound - we could stick a Q-tip in it over half-way! Yeah, I know - gross - I just threw-up in my mouth telling you guys! It didn't even bleed. We took her to the vet the next morning. They shaved it and noticed an infection had already set up. She is bruised and the hole is oozing quite a bit {and yes, it's now bleeding.} To tell you the truth - I can't stand to look at it! Makes me break out in a cold sweat when Lonnie asked for my help to doctor on it! I'm not going to go into the details - but he has to stick this mamma-jamma syringe in the hole and flush it out - Ewwww - makes me squirm uncontrollably! I had a great picture of the hole - but it is just too nasty - so I'll save you that visual - the other two pictures are nowhere near as bad!

Glad to get you squirming on this Monday morning! hehe

Oh my gosh, poor Tiddles! Good thing she was smart enough to go home when she was told too. But I can only imagine the care and vet bills involved in her wound. Hopefully the owner of the other dog has offered to help out financially.

If it were my dog she would have just fought back resulting in more chaos : /

Get well soon, Tiddles!

Your poor dog , I had no idea a dog could be so smart , boston terriers do not have much at all, poor dog, I hope she does not have any lasting emotional effects from the attack , you are way more understanding than I am .
Good luck keeping it clean , I feel your pain , as I was recently doing wound and puss removal from one of my dogs.

OH MY GOSH - OH. MY. GOOOOOSSSHHH!!! Poor little BOO!! I believe you though on the door opening/shutting - she's not dumb! I've seen a German Shepherd OPEN a lever door handle before so I believe anything now when it comes to those type of dogs!! What kind of dog was it that went after her?!?!

That wound looks awful! She is sooo pretty! I hate you had to cancel your vacation but enjoy each other this week and get out of the house for a few road trips.

Have fun!

Oh how I can so totally relate to not wanting ANYTHING to do with cleaning out the nastiness of dog-fights! Even though I love my dogs dearly, I'm thankful my DH does all that stuff.....only my dogs beat eachother up! I had a similar nasty pic on my blog too and I think I lost some readers! LOL! Glad she's okay - and yes - shelties are so smart - of course she closed the door!

Oh poor Tiddles! We have a sheltie too and I definitely believe you about her being smart enough to get home on her own...they are amazing little dogs aren't they? I think I will always have a sheltie in my family...

Hope she's recovering nicely...

Discovered your blog through the Lollishops Ning group...have really enjoyed my visit and will be back...

I hope you are giving your neighbor all of your bills. How awful for your doggie. I'd come unglued if one of my goldies was attacked!
