Brrr . . .

It is so cold here! Only 57 degrees and I'm ready to put on a winter coat and watch snow fall! Actually it is drizzly here - which does remind me of a Tennessee Christmas! I really hope I see a white Christmas {at least 1 time in my life!}

And why am I talking about Christmas?? Random!

First we have to get through Halloween! Which we have been getting ready for here at the Wheeler's this weekend. Friday night we made a Haunted Gingerbread House . . . and it was scary! I'm really about my kids using there own creativity and go wild with it, but this about put me over the edge! I'm glad I only bought 1 kit! And let me tell you . . . one.hot.mess!

The worms were an after thought . . . we just started sticking candy on it . . . whatever we had!

I actually had some coconut flakes?! Does look like grass - right?

Carson was too concerned with the green icing!

Lawson kept eating all the candy! After he ate all that was in front of him, he started pulling it off the house! Em, on the other hand, was stoked when she got on the table and started mixing up all the icing.

She kept dumping it on the house!

And the whole time Hudson was upstairs reading?! Didn't want any part of it - although he picked it out?! I have a feeling it was just too messy.

On Saturday night, we made cupcakes. Halloween cupcakes. And the kids loved them!

Hudson has this "no hands" policy when he eats anything messy. Part of that sensory issue.

Em had that "one bite" policy as she tried desperately to cram the whole thing in her mouth! Man, we got a long way to go on these manners - this girl is never going to bring home a suitable husband!

I think this was Carson's 4th cupcake! That he ate with a spoon! ?? I don't know, don't ask! But he ate a really good supper and would actually eat the whole cupcake {not just the icing - some of the others had that small issue.} So we kept giving them to him?! We're such great parents! hehe!

Lawson ate his cupcake, oh wait, did I say "cupcake" . . . I meant icing with a spoon. And when he licked that cupcake slick, the boy found the icing bowl {unbeknownst to us} and ate the majority of the left overs!

I'm shocked that we didn't have upset tummies last night! Apparently we have conditioned them well.

Off to dig out all the Halloween decor! And we have accumulated quite a bit since having children. Carson keeps saying {in his lingo,} "Haa-ween skaws me," (Halloween scares me. Just in case you didn' t speak "carson") with an incredibly hysterical facial expression. Because he is dead.serious. The boy would not wear a skeleton shirt yesterday {I guess Lawson gets that one!}

I hope you all have had a great weekend!

Cute pictures! I love licking the bowl when I was little, but there was never much left when I got there. :)

I love Carson's lingo.

You are such a wonderful Mama! I don't know many parents that "let" their kids figure it out for themselves.
Hubby's grandaughter was VERY afraid of skeletons, and most things Halloween. All of a sudden, you'd see her eyes get big, and she'd start rubbing her tummy. "I'm scaawed!" The rubbing the tummy thing is interesting, isn't it?

that is so funny, Eli doesn't like to get messy either. It is so strange to me and I have to keep from getting frustrated sometimes. But he isn't that way with sweets for some reason, just painting and other things... but he does tell me if he has had too many sweets and says "mommy I shouldn't eat anymore, because I don't want a tummy ache. Isn't that precious!!! and bizarre... I don't even think about that!

little tip to ease the mess of eating a cupcake.. take the bottom cake part and rip half of the bottom off with your hands.. it comes in two super easy.. then put the piece u took off on TOP of the icing.. so its not ooey gooey stuff touching your face.. its a neat little sandwich instead!!! mmm

What a fun yummy mess!!! You're kids crack me up. And how exciting that Halloween is coming! I usually go all out. But this year I am skipping it all. Mitch is thrilled {yeah, I'm that nuts about it usually} but considering that I could possibly be in labor on Halloween {if I'm a week late} skipped it is! :o)

Goodness! There are so many sweet cheeks to kiss and squeeze in this post! I too have been lately letting the kids eat / do whatever--I have been feeling like I am a tad RIGID (who, me? NAW!!!) And you know what? No one has had a meltdown, broken anything or got sick! So freeing . . . anyhow, James is right with Carson--he still won't wear his dinosaur costume from last year!! Too scary!!
