Waiting on me?

Talking about taking my time - I swear it's unintentional! Everyone is getting a cootie bug around here and of course who do you think has to take care of it??? Who did you say? That's right, me. Was there really any question??

Without further delay . . . I introduce to you the birds . . . .

I'm in love with these!! And I'm really torn about giving them up! So, it might be a few days still before I ship them!

The bedding they are too match! I don't know if you guys know {because I sure didn't,} but Land of Nod will send you swatches! Neatly trimmed in a clear little envelope! I was really impressed! My fav-O-rite pattern on the entire bedding was the dots! {Imagine that?} Which is where the inspiration came for the flower!

It is hard to see, but there is a tiny amount of glitter on the teeny-weeny white flowers. And how can we forget the feathers!!

As most of you know, I normally embellish my canvases with something! I've been dying to paint birds so I could use feathers! These are going to look great over a bed on a soft pink wall! I can't wait to see pictures! Sorry I made everybody wait!!!

Last night, I had just got the kids asleep and had started painting. Lonnie came and got me and said, "You have got to see this on tv." It was a show called "Amazing Families" - has anyone watched it? On Discovery Health {I think?} Anyways - this week's amazing fam had 6 kids - all with some form of autism. All I can say is WoW! I pretty much cried through the entire episode! Really, I did. It was overwhelming to me. They had 2 that were severe - what most of you think when you think of autism. They had 3 with asperger - which I could completely relate to. And one child - the youngest at 3 - that has some kind of autism that really doesn't have a name to it - BUT she is the most "typical child". The parents talked about how it was so wonderful that they can carry on a normal conversation with her - apparently they can't with the others - But can with the 3 year old! I learned that there is only a 10% chance for a family to have a second child with autism after having the first child with autism . . . so this family is quite amazing. I believe it was the University of Utah that is doing a huge study that includes extracting DNA and looking through blood work and the such to see if they can detect the autism gene.

The mom talked about how some days she can do nothing but watch TV or barely get out of the bed because it might be a day that she can barely deal with it. And their house - oh my! Hey Ty, where are you!! These people need a major Home Makeover! One child pulls the drywall off the walls in her room! In sheets!

After I watched it, I couldn't get off the couch. I just couldn't stop thinking of that family! I need to clarify and say that my children have NOT {yet} been diagnosed - and I doubt they will anytime soon only because of the success we are seeing at the moment. Hudson and Lawson get therapy as if they have aspergers. And we have seen HUGE success. Whether they have it or not - currently doesn't matter. We have found what is working and we'll keep going at the pace we're going to see the continued results. We have wonderful therapists who {I feel} will do anything for my children. Their efforts are amazing and I couldn't say thank you enough!

I get several emails on a regular basis that I can tell are wanting to ask me . . . but in a polite way skirt around it hoping I will "take the bait" - I don't want to explain everything a thousand times so I thought I would just blog it. Made sense and it's not a sensitive subject for me - might be for others, so I'm sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes {or feet for that matter.} The hardest part is having twins with one considered "typical" and one not. You can easily see the differences even without comparing. And I DON'T compare them - so NOBODY give my some silly comments about that - please! But the obvious is there! Carson had a true speech delay - only! And I think his speech therapy days are numbered!!! Actually, I'm guessing Monday might be his last! Whoo-hoo! I actually hear him and Hudson carrying on conversations in their room while they are playing - music I tell ya'!! I've waited a long time for my kids to interact with each other!!!

Okay, I'll leave you with this . . .

Laws with 2 strawberries - only 2! And we had somewhere to go - hence the reason he had on no clothes - I was trying to save them with the anticipation he would make a mess!!!

Talking about One Hot Mess!

Completely love those birdies...I can hear them whistling in my head (nope I'm not mental or anything, lol!). And it was great to see such a spring picture when we're getting SNOW AGAIN...argh!

Glad also to hear about Carson's speech coming along. My son also had a delay and we had him in speech classes until 2nd grade....you'd never know it now and as my hubby says "the kid doesn't shut up now can we take those classes back!" LOL.

The birds are too cute! I would have no clue how to do birds.

And I'm glad you don't let it bother you what others say, you shouldn't. I only have 1 autistic child. So when I found that show, "Autism X6" then I cried with anguish. My son is the most high functioning like their 3 year old called PDD-NOS. (Pervasive Developmental Disorder NOt Otherwise Specified) But everyone on the spectrum is completely different. I'm so excited that you said he's almost done with speech! That's an amazing goal, and I can't wait for us to get there. THank you for sharing! (((HUGS)))

First of all, those birds are ADORABLE!

I have to admit, I'm glad I didn't see that show. I would probably still be crying. Hearing stories like that make me realize how good we have it as far as Evan's degree of autism. All I know to do is pray for that mom.

Okay, I applaud everything you wrote about your personal experience. It is so irritating when people (that are not professionals) try to tell you or hint around to you...like you are not their mother or something. Believe me...I have been there.

You are exactly right in that even if there was a diagnosis, their treatment wouldn't change. Plus, it sounds like they are doing fantastic. You are one amazing mom. I've told you before I don't know how you do it all. You are truly an inspiration and I'm glad you are my friend (even though we've never seen each other face to face but I plan on it one day)! Hugs!

Love the birds- anytime I see your new paintings I want to change the theme of my girls room hence the reason why I haven't yet! :)

There is a family at my church that has three boys with aspergers. All three of them have different levels but it does make me think of what an amazing mother could handle all her kids having a disorder- makes me feel lucky for the things I DO have to go through.

Two strawberries? Are you kidding. Sometimes when I eat strawberries I feel like I may look that way for the fact they are so good, he must had thoroughly enjoyed them.
