I'm serious with that title. I wonder what my art would look like if I knew the proper techniques. After these paintings - I have decided to show the original piece of small words! The first piece I ever painted. In all it's glory. It is going to be a post of "hope" for all who aspire to something . . . . whatever it may be. Remember, I just picked up a paintbrush 4 years ago. AND it's not like I have all the time in the world to "learn" how to do it! So, stay tune . . . . it will be getting interesting in a few days!
Anyhoodle - check this out . . . . . a friend of a friend wanted some bunnies. I was asked if I could do it. "Well, I don't know until I try" has been my motto of sorts lately. So, here I go . . . . she wanted a few basic things - stripes, earthy like tones, simplistic in design, yaddi-yaddi, I'm sure you get the point . . . . .
I will admit - I worked on the stripes for a couple of weeks {normally during LOST!} You wouldn't believe how many times they changed colors - there is only 9 gazillion shades of taupe and I was looking for the perfect shade. Let's put it this way - so many coats, that the stripes are probably like vinyl and will peel off! OKAY, just kidding! Because I sealed them on!!! hahaha! Seriously, she gave me a wall color that I was going by and I didn't want my stripes to look off with her color!
I have no idea WHAT a bunny looks like, but I have several of these old/antique books {that have nothing, absolutely nothing on the cover} but have a ton of old sketches in them. I found a bunny picture in one of them! Just to give me a good outline to look at.
Once I had a picture, I made a small grid with tape {I don't know, I'm rolling my eyes too! Just seemed like the right thing to do to get proportions!} Can't you see the bunny within the confines of the blue tape?? tee hee
THIS was one of the bunnies several days ago. Her eye was freakin' out! Everywhere I went in the room - she followed me! Heebie Jeebies!
So, I changed it!
The bunny face in the first one is more true to color - I was playing around with the camera and ran out of time to get the right color! Sorry! But I'm sure you can see the overall look!
Bunny number 2!
And I can't forget the side view!
Yeah, I'm planning on art lessons!

Kim.... I have had art lessons and do consider my art pretty good. Go back and have a very long look at the "Bunny", for a first attempt, you are amazing and have such unknown talent!
Congratulations and well done.
The picture is just beautiful.
xoxoxox
That is just toooo precious!! You are a rare talent!
Those bunnies are awesome, a great first attempt indeed. But now that we've all seen how amazing you can be with animals, I wouldn't be surprised if your pile of 99 canvases gets a whole lot bigger. I love, love, love seeing your paintings.
Pretty decent for a first time bunny!
i love it! what a great print for a child's room. i'd totally buy it!
I love the bunnies! I think it is beautiful!
You are a natural...no lessons needed...that is for people who lack all your natural abilities! Very cute and they can hang together and keep each other happy!
You are truly talented! I would love to be able to paint just a tiny bit but I can barly draw a stick figure.
Aww... I know a little boy who would LOVE these. =) Didn't know you did rabbits too!
I think it's awesome!! And incidentally, what kind of sealant do you use? I just painted my fireplace (you gotta go see it!), but I still need to seal it...
I think the bunnies are great! I can't believe you did them from the blue tape. It is obvious you have a natural talent, I don't think lessons would even help me with making something like that.

You don't need art lessons. You would probably have fun taking art lessons and learning other people's techniques, but ART IS FROM THE HEART. Do you think Van Gogh took art lessons? Nope. It came from the heart. Your bunnies are beautiful! Keep it up girl, your art is taking you places!
Your paintings are adorable.
Art lessons are always fun. You learn new techniques and get inspired in new ways. I recommend them - but not because you need them.
Lovely Bunnies, Kim! No lessons needed, you are evolving on your own with your uniqueness. Great work!
I really think you are to hard on yourself!!! Your bunnies are perfect!!! I love the cuteness of them and they match your design perfect!!!
my son looked at this post with me and he said "ahhh look at the cute little bunny." but I know what you mean
I love the bunnies! Since you have so much time you should do an Easter Special! I am sure I am not the first person to suggest that. Maybe just one small square instead of 3!
I love the bunnies! You are so talented! I am looking forward to seeing your first painting ever!
I think those bunnies are super cute! Good job!
Girl! Those are beautiful! You SOOO Do NOT need lessons. You are so talented naturally. PSHH -Lessons Smessions. Hope all is well, miss ya.
They're adorable! Look so cute with the stripes!
Have you seen the children's book "Guess How Much I Love You?" Talk about bunnies! You'll lose your mind!
You have wonderful talent. I wish I could do an 1/8 of what you do. Keep it up, it is one of a kind beautiful.
What are you talkin' about, Willis??? You DO NOT need art lessons...I need a place for a bunny!!
I think the bunny looks precious. You did a great job for first time bunny. Maybe I will draw one and post it so you can see.
I love visiting and seeing what new pieces of art you have created! Keep up the good work. I almost wish it was Christmas everyday so that I could display my "Fa La La's" year-round!
I am laughing about the grid--when I was interning as a scene painter at Maine State Music Theater in college we would do the same thing on the scene designer's renderings to repaint them as full-size stage drops. I love these. GREAT JOB!
Now you are gonna have to paint bunnies or turn down requests to paint bunnies! They turned out great! First time or not! I wish I could paint as great {or at all} as you!! :o)
I can't wait to see you on Sunday ;)!
I personally think the bunnies look GREAT!!! Hopefully your week is a little better!
Art lessons? Those are great and I love the polka dots on the side... they're beautiful!
Hi Kim.. I have given you an award! please mosey over to see!!

Wow. Great stuff! I just found your blog & website through doing the whole clicking on a blog-of-a-blog-of-a-blog. Love it. I feel like I had some annoying friends who pushed me into my business too. I'm still learning a lot with the business side of things. Would love to hear more about how you got started. Inspiring. Thanks!
