It's healthy for us to get in...Great thoughts, Kim. It's healthy for us to get involved in the conversation. As for healthcare in Canada, think again. I have doctors that I have worked with over the years who are Canadian, and it isn't all that. Often times patients wait a very long time to get in to see a doctor, and doctors are plagued with heavy patient loads and limited resources. I think it's time that some of those "ear marks" included a good healthcare plan where patients can choose teir doctors, doctors can provide quality care and practice what they studied 12 years to do without fear of going broke because of malpractice insurance. We're losing some of the best doctors to executive positions in the private sector because it's more lucrative and there is less liability, in addition the credability is higher. Doctors aren't treated with the prestige tey once were in their own profession. Healthcare should be affordable based on one's ability to pay. I cold go on and on about insurance, I've seen it from the insuror standpoint, as the care provider and the patient.
What we all need to do more of is PRAY for our leaders, one another and look for the GOOD in all things. Where there is good, there is GOD. Cool, huh? :)JoAnneBNAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16856190350331013403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580053936680043373.post-22889666203352132812008-10-03T23:15:00.000-05:002008-10-03T23:15:00.000-05:00We'll be voting McCain/Palin! Here is mine :-)...Canada may be doing a great job with the free health care, but I'm not convinced that is what the U.S. needs. Our government run programs (from the postal service to social security) are not overly impressive. I've never looked to Washington to meet my needs and I'm very confident that I can do a better job of managing my resources.

All politics aside, despite a horrible week on Wall Street...the parking lot a Target is still full, there is gas in most of our very nice cars, our pantries are overflowing with food, we have soft beds to sleep on at night and we still have more freedoms than most of the world. The uninsured are often forced to pay up front for all appointments and tests myself included. Did you know when most insurance is billed often your insurance plan is given a discount on that procedure? Example...the doctor offices bills your insurance $200, but the max the insurance company will pay on that claim is $150. Okay...great you pay 20% of the $150. I pay $200 no discount, straight away before treatment. Then on top of that I can expent an $257 dollar antibiotic. Yeah...not trying to argue, but I appreciated Tricare when I had it.

But anyways...I enjoy your art. How can you say it isn't good . In the past three years I have not waited more than 20 minutes to see a clinic doctor , I also know when the most busy times of day are to go , and I avoid those times, its not rocket science , you can play a victim and complain or you can see what we have and how lucky we are.
I personally have NO complaints about our healthcare system , I think it is incredibly efficient .
There you go anon , that is my take and since I have lived ALL my life with free health I think that you should consider this a positive opinion.
ChrisChris Kauffmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01484823325531182507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580053936680043373.post-18567104010059265402008-10-03T13:58:00.000-05:002008-10-03T13:58:00.000-05:00Oh I am so glad your aren't mad about my comment ,...Oh I am so glad your aren't mad about my comment , we don't think you are goobers, truth is we are glad to be be Canadians but sort of feel like we too are American because we share the same culture really if truth be told.
They did a poll yesterday on the Toronto news asking viewers which debate they would watch the US or ours , I mean why wouldn't we watch our own guys fighting it out for Prime Minister , same job , our country , but sure enough about half voted for the US and half Canada , doesn't that just say it all, your politics are just more fun to watch or implode which ever the case may be , be do however thankfull experience an unbiases news cast on all things political , sad but true.
Really I would love to be a US voter this year, but I am am Canadian and will vote cast my vote and hope for change here as well .
What ever you think , as long as you cast your vote say your peace , we are blessed to have such a say , so many never get this priveledge.
We all are truly blessed to live where we do American or Canadian , we are very fortunate indeed.Chris Kauffmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01484823325531182507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580053936680043373.post-52889633206222129902008-10-03T13:57:00.000-05:002008-10-03T13:57:00.000-05:00Amen, sister!!Amen, sister!!Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02624579268277066653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580053936680043373.post-75421576660988808552008-10-03T13:05:00.000-05:002008-10-03T13:05:00.000-05:00AMEN sister!!!! I will not say...OK, I have to ring in on this one. I will not say that I think this bailout is a good thing. I think it is crap. However, it isn't just about Wall Street. It isn't just about companies who made bad decisions. If our government DOES NOT bail out the financial crisis we have on Wall Street we are ALL going to feel the ramifications.

If they do not get the money they need to stay afloat, they will call in ALL their loans. They can and they will do that folks. Imagine you get a notice that says your mortgage/car loan/business loan is due immediately. Do you have that much money sitting around? No, most of us do not. If we did we wouldn't have needed a loan. Imagine that your husband goes to work and discovers the small business he works for is closing. The bank called in their business loans and they didn't have the cash flow to cover it. Imagine you genuinely need to borrow money for something. Most banks are not lending money right now...especially to businesses. They don't have the money to loan. In a slowing economy a business needs more cash flow from the bank to survive. Most small businesses do every day business on a line of credit. Certain times of the month you need the line of credit to stay in business until the money from customers comes in. If the bank calls in the line of credit basically you are screwed. What will happen? They will close and every employee will lose their job. See what I mean?

This isn't just about their bad decisions. It's about how their bad decisions are going to effect regular every day America. We are an average family. We live within our means. We pay our bills on time and live responsibly. That doesn't negate the fact that this could directly effect ALL of us in a very NEGATIVE way.

The bail out sucks. No doubt about it. However, I'm not blowing smoke here folks. If the government doesn't do something we are all going to be in trouble.

(**Sorry Kim for hijacking your blog. You know I don't normally do things like this but I had to speak up. This financial crisis is very real for everyone. No one is exempt.**)Mommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09197186026014863218noreply@blogger.com
